The Pros and Cons of Wood Plastic Composites

Wood Plastic Composites (WPC) offers a blend of wood fibres and thermoplastics, presenting advantages and drawbacks. Pros include durability, resistance to decay, and eco-friendliness.

WPC is low-maintenance, requiring no staining or sealing. However, it may exhibit color fading, and some formulations might be susceptible to mold or mildew. Installation costs can be high, but long-term savings result from reduced maintenance.

The reliance on non-renewable plastics raises environmental concerns. While WPC has excellent moisture resistance, exposure to harsh weather may cause some swelling or contraction. Understanding these aspects helps users make informed decisions regarding WPC for decking, fencing, or other applications.
